Family

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other!

Over the past couple of months, we have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl. We enjoy watching our two children interact. The love between them is incredible. There is just a special bond between siblings that cannot/should not be broken. They will be there for each other through the good times and the bad times.

I want to share a story about one of my students. She is 16 years old and her sister is 18. Their mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. These 2 young girls made the decision to get full time jobs to earn money to help support their family. The father was not in the picture and their mom could no longer work due to the toll her radiation and chemotherapy took on her body. Due to the full time jobs, the girls could no longer attend their public schools. They both work 40 hours a week and have enrolled in an online high school. They were determined to support their family, earn their high school diploma, and spend as much time with their mother as they could. Their were plenty of days where these girls were physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted. But their will and determination to be there for their mother was incredible. I find it absolutely amazing that these 2 girls gave up so much just to help their mother. It's a tribute to the wonderful job this mom did raising her two kids. The sacrifices these 2 girls made is something we can all learn from. They gave up hanging out with their friends. They gave up prom and date nights. They gave up Friday night football games and pep rallies. Would you make that sacrifice for your own mom? I know I would.

I'm sad to say the girls' mom lost her battle with cancer 2 days ago. What do you say? How do I even attempt to comfort them. At least they have each other to lean on through this difficult time.

So our message tonight is this: Don't wait too long to see your loved ones. When you see them, hug them and tell them you love them. If you need to make a sacrifice and rearrange your daily schedule, then do it before it's too late.

Hubby and I know that our family members read this and we want you all to know that we LOVE you and will do anything for you.

Doodle Bug and Jitter Bug, I hope you never have to make any sacrifices for your parents. Daddy and I love you both so very much and we're glad you have each other.

The BEST thing to hold onto in life is EACH other.
